The Song
…
Christine:
In sleep he sang to me, In dreams he came,
That voice which calls to me, And speaks my name,
And do I dream again? For now I find,
The Phantom of the Opera is there - inside my mind.Phantom:
Sing once again with me, our strange duet,
My power over you, grows stronger yet,
And though you turn from me, to glance behind
The Phantom of the Opera is there - inside your mind.
Christine:
Those who have seen your face,
Draw back in fear,
I am the mask you wear,
Those who have seen your face,
Draw back in fear,
I am the mask you wear,
Phantom:
It’s me they hear.
It’s me they hear.
Both:
Your/my spirit and my/your voice in one combined,
The Phantom of the Opera is there inside my/your mind.
Your/my spirit and my/your voice in one combined,
The Phantom of the Opera is there inside my/your mind.
(in the background)
He’s there, the Phantom of the Opera . . .
Beware, the Phantom of the Opera . . .
He’s there, the Phantom of the Opera . . .
Beware, the Phantom of the Opera . . .
Phantom:
In all your fantasies, you always knew that man and mystery . . .
In all your fantasies, you always knew that man and mystery . . .
Christine:
…were both in you.
…were both in you.
Both:
And in this labyrinth, where night is blind,
the Phantom of the Opera is there/here inside your/my mind . . .
And in this labyrinth, where night is blind,
the Phantom of the Opera is there/here inside your/my mind . . .
Phantom:
Sing, my Angel of Music!
Sing, my Angel of Music!
Christine:
He’s there,
the Phantom of the Opera…
He’s there,
the Phantom of the Opera…
Andrew Llyod-Webber’s phenomenal hit that had burst onto the London stage 20 years ago, had returned to Singapore again. The musical theatre took place at Esplanade, Singapore for a strictly limited season from March til May 2007. I spent SD$405 (equivalent to RM907.20) in doing the online booking for three tickets for show at 8.00pm on 5th May 2007. Just like what I had seen from the movie and read from the book, the live show was extremely enthralling - the story details, the main characters played by Brad Little as The Phantom and Rebecca Pitcher as Christine, the other cast members, the floating chandelier, the flying Phantom, the lightings, the curtains, the small boat moving in between candles, the misty effect, the monkey music box, the dancing and the whole stage setting.
Excellent! It was worth paying for.
